ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
After qualifying with the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association), I took a 12-month course in the year 2000 with Steven Shaw, the founder of applying the principles of The Alexander Technique to swimming. I then went on to specialise in teaching students who are anxious, or have a fear of the water. In 2005 I created Learn to Swim with the Mind/Body Awareness Programme.
The Mind/Body Awareness Programme guides the student in understanding how to work with their fear through breath control and developing a mind/body conscious awareness.
Students are encouraged to explore and discover movement in a focused and yet playful way. This helps to break down barriers and to tune into a flow of energy, which helps to maintain well-being and clarity of mind.
The Mind/Body Awareness Programme is designed to help you to enjoy the water, and to swim calmly and mindfully, which is conducive to physical as well as emotional relaxation.
Just recently in 2019 I qualified as a Level 2 British Triathlon Coach and an Open Water Swim Coach.
I now work mainly in England, and occasionally work in the USA. I have been fortunate in earning an international reputation for positive results from my unique and gentle method. I am passionate about The Mind/Body Awareness Programme because I and hundreds of clients know that it works.
